Focus Areas

To improve balance, I incorporate simple stability exercises such as heel to toe walking, standing on one foot while holding onto a sturdy surface, and gentle weight shifts from side to side. Practicing sit to stand transitions from a chair is especially effective because it strengthens legs while directly improving fall prevention. Slow, controlled movements are key, and I always ensure safety by staying close, using support surfaces, and progressing gradually. For strength building, I focus on functional movements that mimic daily tasks. Chair squats, wall push ups, light resistance bands, and step ups onto a low platform help strengthen major muscle groups needed for walking, climbing stairs, and carrying groceries. The goal is not heavy lifting. It is maintaining muscle mass, joint stability, and endurance. Repetition with proper form matters more than intensity. To encourage exercise throughout the day, I integrate movement into daily life rather than relying only on a workout session. This can include short walking intervals, gentle stretching in the morning and evening, light household tasks, or structured movement breaks every hour. Even small bursts of activity improve circulation, reduce stiffness, and elevate mood. Balance & Mobility Fitness Functional Movement Nutrition Weight Management Strength Training

I’m an artist, educator, and people-person at heart. I spent 15 years as a sixth-grade teacher in Oakland and have dedicated much of my life to working with seniors and individuals with disabilities. I’m extremely motivated, creative, and love connecting with people in meaningful ways. Through my work in physical therapy—both with horses and with individuals facing neurological and orthopedic challenges—I help people feel stronger, more confident, and more alive in their bodies.
